2013 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix

Claiming Rule Team (CRT)

There will be two types of MotoGP bikes on the grid as we saw in 2012, with highly tuned prototypes used by the manufacturers and some selected satellite teams, and the Claiming Rule Team (CRT) bikes with production based engines and larger fuel tanks.

As in 2012, Claiming Rule Teams are swelling MotoGP’s ranks this year. Many of these teams' riders have the opportunity to experience top flight racing in MotoGP for the first time and will use modified production engines from Honda, Kawasaki, Aprilia and BMW. The regulations that apply to CRT engines allow special tuning advantages, the ability to have twice as many engines available for the season and the advantage of a larger fuel tank. This should make for some interesting racing!
