Biography

After a bruising pre-season in 2016 – which included a 290km/h crash in Malaysia after rear tyre failure – Baz didn't really inject any sort of consistency into his season. However, a fourth at Brno and fifth at Sepang were the highlights for the man with the nickname 'Bazooka'. The lanky Frenchman will be in the group hunting for the final points on offer – unless the conditions are inclement where he tends to excel.  Baz came into MotoGP™ after a solid apprenticeship in WorldSBK: in three seasons he progressed from 13th to fifth overall. Before that, his CV includes the 2008 European Superstock 600 title, of which he was the youngest winner, and a stint in British Superbikes. In his debut MotoGP™ year, Baz scored nearly as many points in one GP — fourth at a wet Misano — as his other six point-scoring races put together.
