The provisional 2018 MotoGP™ calendar has been released, with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix scheduled later than previous years.
The #AusMotoGP is tentatively locked in for 26-28 October 2018 as the 17th of 19 races on an expanded calendar.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott welcomed the provisional announcement.
“The Island is one of the fastest circuits on the MotoGP™ calendar and provides an annual highlight for riders, teams and fans alike,” he said.
“With the Michelin® Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2017 just over a month away, and the 2018 date provisionally announced, there is plenty to look forward to.”
The 2018 MotoGP™ season is set to begin under lights in Qatar on 18 March, followed by Argentina on 8 April and the Americas on 22 April.
Eleven races in Europe will follow, before the inaugural Thai GP on 7 October.
As per previous years, the Japanese GP will take place a week before MotoGP™ descends on The Island once again.
The Malaysian GP will be held a week after the #AusMotoGP, with Valencia locked in for the season finale once more.
