    AUSTRALIAN SUPERSPORT/SUPERSTOCK 600

    New to the 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix track schedule is the introduction of the Australian Supersport/Superstock 600’s to excite fans with a second premier national class. The Supersport bikes allow modifications such as exhaust and fuel injections while the Superstock bikes will run production engines with the racing still tight. The category will feature major manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha on the grid.

    AUSTRALIAN SUPERBIKES/SUPERSTOCK 1000

    The nation’s premier support category with Australia’s best riders will again feature, with four races across three days to determine who the best in the land is. The 2011 Australian Superbike Champion Glen Allerton, will be looking to set the pace against challengers such as Jamie Stauffer, Josh Waters and Wayne Maxwell who will be looking to take the title at the island.

    There is NO designated pushbike parking

    BMW

    BMW will be the vehicle supplier for all on-track course cars (including the BMW international safety cars). They will also be the supplier for all off-track support vehicles requirements.

    Head to Gardner Village (Circuit Map Grid Ref: I 12) and have a ride on the bucking bull under the weather shelter for FREE! Test your skills amongst your friends and see who can stay on the longest!

    CAMERAS/RECORDING EQUIPMENT

    A patron cannot make, create, record, transmit, reproduce or use any recording, data or image for any form of advertisement, transmission, display, or for profit or commercial gain, or for any other purpose (except) for the private enjoyment of the person making the recording, data or image) without the prior written consent of AGPC, DORNA and/ or FIM.

    For this reason, patrons are not permitted to bring into the circuit any photographic, video or audio recording equipment which AGPC deems would be used for this purpose. This MAY include (without limitation) audio recorders, camera tripods and digital video equipment.

    Filming from the Pit Roof is strictly prohibited.

    Cameras and Film are not sold at the circuit.

    CAMPGROUNDS

    There are two campground areas listed below available for sale to the general public within metres of the circuit. Campgrounds are open to the public on Thursday morning at 8am, with the Officials’ Campground opening on the Wednesday, from 12noon. The Trackside Official’s Campground is located to the North of the Trackside Campground within the grounds of the Visitor Centre. There is also the Highside Officials Campground which is designated for participating officials and their guests only. All Campgrounds are operational until 12noon on Monday, October 29.

    • Trackside Campground (Circuit Map Grid Ref: R11) - $120 per person for 4 nights
      Overlooking the southern section of the circuit – For motorcycles and tents only.
    • Highside Campground (Circuit Map Grid Ref: U14) - $90 per person for 4 nights
      Situated to the west of the Southern Loop – For all vehicles, including caravans, motorhomes etc. Limited powered sites available at additional cost. Highside includes facilities for patrons with a disability.

    Children under 5 are permitted access to the Circuit and Campground free of charge, and do not require a wristband.

    Campers can move freely between the Highside and Trackside Campgrounds, regardless of which campground wristband they have. However their coloured wristband dictates where their tent/caravan is based. No patron are permitted in the officials campground area.

    Campgrounds have hot and cold shower facilities, food and bar outlets, general store, firewood seller, and entertainment on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in the Trackside Entertainment area (Circuit Map Grid Ref: P10).

    Larger Vehicles including campervans, caravans and motor homes will have a designated parking area within the Highside Campground.

    CAMPGROUND SHUTTLE BUS

    A FREE Shuttle Bus will operate from the Highside and Trackside Campground entry points to Gate 1, to connect with the Island Shuttle Bus (Refer P – Public Transport). The service runs Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm to approx 3am (depending on demand) and Sunday night from 7pm to approx 12 midnight.

    CAMPGROUND MOBILE PHONE CHARGING

    2012 welcomes the addition of mobile phone charging stations for Campground patrons. The charging stations will be located inside the Trackside Campground Managers Office (Circuit Map Grid Ref Q11) and inside the Highside Campground Managers Office (Circuit Map Grid Ref X14).

    Note: Patrons must supply their own phone chargers.

    CAMPGROUND ENTERTAINMENT

    • Trackside Campground (Circuit Map Grid Ref: R11) There will be 6 bands playing over Friday, Saturday and Sunday night of the event. Some of these bands are brand new and others are crowd favorites. Bands commence at 8pm each night and play until around midnight. Only patrons with a campground wristband can enter the Trackside Entertainment Marquee.
    • Highside Campground (Circuit Map Grid Ref: U14) The open air cinema experience will be once again offered this year to all campground patrons. The following movies will be screened in the Highside Campground close to the catering facilities and amenities. Friday – Step Brothers, Saturday – TT: Closer to the Edge and Sunday – Drive. Movies will commence from 8.30pm.

    CAMPGROUNDS TICKET OFFICE

    The Campgrounds Ticket Office (Circuit Map Grid Ref: O12) is managed by Grand Prix Travel, who also pre-sell campsites. This office, equipped to handle all Campground queries, is not accessible from the circuit. Patrons must exit the venue via Gate 7 or Trackside Campground, and travel along Visitor Centre Drive to access.

    Campers not in possession of wristbands upon arrival at the circuit will be directed to the Campgrounds Ticket Office.

    COWES ENTERTAINMENT

    Only a few minutes from the circuit, Cowes is where the night-time action begins, with live bands and licensed areas where fans can enjoy the festivities. A giant superscreen at the north end of Thompson Avenue will ensure that the whole festival experience is enjoyed by all.

    CRANBOURNE RUN

    The Cranbourne Run will take place on Saturday, October 27. The MRA Cranbourne GP Run is an opportunity for riders of different backgrounds and abilities to get together and participate in the biggest group motorcycle ride in Victoria. The bikes will leave Cranbourne at 10am, arriving at the circuit at approximately 11am.

    The AGPC Event Office will assist people with a disability. This office, based on Gardner Straight South (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K15) will be open for patrons on the following days:

    TICKETING/COMPANION CARD
    Tickets for people with a disability are available at all Foxtix outlets. Patrons with a disability may have a carer or companion with them, and in most cases the carer or companion will have a Carer or Companion Card. When a person with a disability purchases a General Admission ticket to the event, a second ticket will be issued for their companion at no extra charge or at a reduced price

    WHEELCHAIRS

    There are three wheelchairs available for loan from the Event Office (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K15). No charges apply, however formal identification is required.

    Toilets for patrons with disabilities are located:

    VIEWING PLATFORM

    There is one dedicated wheelchair accessible viewing platform in the General Admission area, adjacent to the Gardner Grandstand (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K9)

    Access to this viewing platform is for patrons in possession of the ticket ‘For People with a Disability’, along with their carer.

    PARKING

    A dedicated accessible parking area will be located in the Circuit Car Park, directly outside Gate 7. (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K13). Campers will also have dedicated parking areas and campsites within Highside Campground.

    VIP HOSPITALITY FACILITIES

    VIP Hospitality facilities with access for persons with a disability include Pit Roof VIP Village - Platinum and Gold, and Red Line Club.

    SHUTTLE SERVICE – ONSITE

    A free on-site accessible vehicle will be available for transporting people with a disability (or limited mobility), to remote sections of the circuit, operating from Gates Open to Gates Close on all three days of the event. Priority will be given to patrons who pre-book this service. Telephone: 0402 443 000 from Monday 22nd October.

    Patrons with a disability have access to the infield (support paddock, VIP Hospitality facilities etc) via the internal accessible shuttle bus only.

    Shuttle Bus Stops are located at all Pedestrian Entry Gates (Circuit Map Grid Ref: D1, B12, K12 & U12) and the accessible parking section of the Circuit Car Park (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K13). See Circuit Map for all stop locations.

    SHUTTLE SERVICE – OFFSITE

    Wheelchair accessible coach services will depart Melbourne CBD on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7am. Tickets for this service must be pre-purchased through Foxtix 1800 100 030.

    DORNA SPORTS

    Dorna Sports, based in Spain, is an international sports management, marketing and television company. Dorna has been the exclusive rights holder of all commercial and TV rights to the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP) since 1992.

    FACE PAINTING

    Face painting will be available in the Gardner Village (Circuit Map Grid Ref: I11).

    FIREWORKS

    Fireworks and flares are not permitted to be brought into the circuit or Campgrounds, and are illegal in Victoria. Any patron observed with fireworks is to be reported immediately to Event Control or the Security Operations Centre.

    FIM

    The Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme, founded in 1904, is the world governing body for motorcycle sport, and is an independent association formed by 101 National Federations throughout the world.

    Among its 49 FIM World Championships, the main categories are MotoGP, Superbike, Endurance, Motocross, Supercross, Trial, Enduro and Speedway.

    FIRST AID

    There are five First Aid posts managed by St John Ambulance within the circuit. These are located at:

    • Gardner Straight Central – (Circuit Map Grid Ref: F11)
    • Infield (near the main paddock entrance) - (Circuit Map Grid Ref: J8)
    • Southern Loop - (Circuit Map Grid Ref: W12)
    • Siberia – (Circuit Map Grid Ref: N1)
    • Lukey Heights - (Circuit Map Grid Ref: D5)

    The campgrounds have a 24-hour first aid facility, based at Trackside Campground (Circuit Map Grid Ref: Q11). Highside Campground has an overnight First Aid facility (Circuit Map Grid Ref: Z13). Both these services are for campers only.

    The MAT – Medical Assistance Team will be based in Visitor Centre Carpark. This is not a first aid post, but will be utilised by St John Ambulance and Ambulance Victoria as a treatment centre/ambulance meeting point for patrons in a serious condition.

    FLAGS

    Patrons may not bring into the circuit any flags or banners larger than 1 metre x 1 metre, or with handles greater than 1 metre long – Refer to the Conditions of Entry. MotoGP team flags can be purchased at Merchandise outlets.

    Race Flags – A number of flags are used around the circuit by race marshalls, to warn riders of track conditions, including:

    • Yellow Flag – Indicates danger ahead, so riders need to slow down and prepare to stop. Overtaking is forbidden if a yellow flag is shown.
    • Red Flag – the session has been stopped, due to an accident or unsafe conditions. Riders must return to the pits.
    • Blue Flag – Warns a rider that he is about to be overtaken.
    • Chequered Flag – Indicates to drivers that the session has ended.

    GO KART TRACK

    There is a Go Kart track at the Phillip Island circuit, located within Trackside Campground. However, it is not operational during the Motorcycle Grand Prix. Campers’ vehicles are not permitted on the Go Kart Track at any time during the Motorcycle Grand Prix.

    GP RADIO

    Racetrack commentary will be available on 87.6 FM. Traffic updates will be available on 3AW, 693 AM and Triple M 105.1 FM.

    There will be Grid Girls roving the event from Friday through to Sunday. You can also meet the Grid Girls at the spokes.com.au Autograph Stage. They will also assist with podium presentations.

    HELICOPTER SCENIC FLIGHTS

    Get a breathtaking overview of the entire track and its surroundings. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased from the Helipad (Circuit Map Grid Ref: H14), or from the Scenic Helicopter Flights site within the GP Expo (Circuit Map Grid Ref: J10).

    Holders of VIP vouchers for the Scenic Flights can also catch a ride to the helipad via the VIP Hospitality Shuttle.

    HONDA

    Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix partner, Honda has had a long and extremely successful affiliation with MotoGP, racing over many years across the globe. Honda will once again be out in force at the Phillip Island Circuit this year, both on the track and off. Representing Honda in the premier class is the Repsol Honda Team, LCR Honda and additional Honda riders will also compete in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes, and in the Australian Superbike/Superstock 1000 and Supersport/Superstock 600 support races.

    Honda will also have a major presence within the GP Expo (Circuit Map Grid Ref: J11), featuring new road going models, photo opportunities and more!

    JUNIOR GP CHALLENGE

    The Junior GP Challenge will take place once again at the Phillip Island Circuit on Saturday 27th October at 5.35pm. Using mini electric bikes, the challenge will incorporate ten lucky 3-6 year olds in a sprint like race down the main straight. The electric bikes will be available for children to ride throughout the event opposite the National Support Paddock at the OSET display(Circuit Map Grid Ref: K8).

    Mick Doohan will be on track on Saturday and Sunday to conduct a hot lap of the circuit on board a Repsol Honda MotoGP bike.

    MONSTER ENERGY TRUCK

    The Monster Energy Truck is located infield at Turn 11 (Circuit Map Grid Ref: D7). This custom built truck will host Monster’s VIP Hospitality clients. There is no Public access to this facility

    MOTO2

    This 4-stroke class replaced the old 250cc category in 2011. Moto2 is aimed as a prestigious yet cost-effective accompaniment to the premier class of MotoGP. Honda are the sole engine suppliers. Dunlop provides the tyres.

    Australia’s own Anthony West competes in this class.

    MOTO3

    The Moto3 class is the true junior category of the Moto GP World Championship.
    A new format introduced for 2012 to replace the 2-stroke engine 125cc category. New regulations see 4-stroke 250cc engines introduced for teams with increased minimum weights for bikes and riders combined. The updated regulations introduce cost efficiencies for teams and highlight the category as a proving-ground for younger riders who aim to progress to the Moto2 class.

    MOTOGP

    Formerly labeled ‘500cc’, the MotoGP championship underwent a change in 2002 with new technical regulations permitting the introduction of four-stroke machinery and increasing the engine capacity to 990cc, thus becoming MotoGP. From 2007, rules were again altered, limiting engine capacity to 800cc.

    MotoGP is contested by three manufacturers: Ducati, Yamaha, and Honda. Bridgestone is the sole tyre supplier.

    2012 also see’s the introduction of the Claiming Rule Team (CRT) swelling the MotoGP entries with 9 extra bikes and teams. They will use modified production engines from Honda, Kawasaki, Aprilia and BMW.

    OVERPASS

    There is one pedestrian overpass located on Gardner Straight (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K9 which allows pedestrians to cross over the track to the infield.

    General public are only allowed over the overpass when the National Support Race Paddock is open. Refer to N – National Support Race Paddock.

    Wheelchair access to the infield is via the free accessible shuttle bus.

    RED LINE CLUB PARKING

    Patrons in the Red Line VIP Hospitality facility will be issued with parking vouchers for the Gate 3 Car Park (Circuit Map Grid Ref: A1). Holders of this parking voucher are also entitled to park in the Circuit Car Park (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K14).

    VIP HOSPITALILTY PATRONS

    Corporate patrons will be issued with relevant parking sticker when booking tickets. Majority will be issued to park in the Circuit Car Park (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K14).

    PASS-OUTS

    Should a person wish to leave the circuit and return on the same day, they must have their hand stamped upon leaving. On re-entry, persons will be required to produce their scanned or clipped ticket AND show the stamp on their hand to be re-admitted into the circuit.

    Re-entry is not permitted after 6pm on any day.

    POLICE

    There is one Police Station/Lost and Found outlet on circuit in Gardner Village (Circuit Map Grid Ref: F11). This facility will be operational from Gates Open to Gates Close each day of the event.

    LOST AND FOUND

    Any items found should be taken immediately, or as soon as practical, to the Police facility and registered with the appointed Police Officer.

    A Lost and Found Register will be maintained and all items must be signed in as they are received. Items not claimed after the Event will be transferred to the Cowes Police Station.

    In the event of a child being reported lost by a parent or guardian, they should be directed immediately to the Police facility on site. Similarly, if a lost child is taken into care by a staff member, they should be taken immediately to this facility, or the closest member of the Police Force.

    PROGRAMS/POSTERS

    The Official Program will be sold near all entrance gates in peak periods. Roving vendors will also sell the Official Program in all Grandstand and VIP Facilities. Official Programs, costing $10 are also available at news agencies.

    PUBLIC TELEPHONES

    There is one public telephone located on the infield of the circuit – CREDENTIALLED PERSONNEL ONLY (Circuit Map Grid Ref: J8).

    A selection of roving entertainers will perform for patrons primarily in the Gardner Village area and National Support Paddock between 10.30am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

    The Grand Prix Schools Program offers students the opportunity to experience

    The Grand Prix Schools Program offers students the opportunity to experience the event FREE OF CHARGE, and is part of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation’s commitment to the community. Preregistered school groups receive free General Admission access to the event on Friday, October 26. School buses will arrive and depart from Gate 3(Circuit Map Grid Ref: D1)

    SHOW ‘N’ SHINE

    Proud motorcycle owners and collectors will show their prized machines at the Show ‘n’ Shine display located undercover in National Support Paddock (Circuit Map Grid Ref: L8). The categories for 2012 are: Best Sports Bike, Best Vintage, Best Japanese Bike, Best BEA (British, European, American), Best Touring Bike and Best Vintage Bike (pre 1983 dirt or road).

    SOUNDDEC

    SoundDec is an audio solutions provider at major sporting events throughout the world and creator of the patented SoundDec© Radio.

    SoundDec will broadcast all the on-circuit action from GP Radio 87.6 FM, with live event commentary throughout the duration of the Event.

    SMOKING

    Smoking is prohibited at all times in all areas of corporate facilities, including Pit Roof, Motorcycle Clubs, enclosed areas and grandstands. Designated outdoor smoking areas (subject to availability) will be advised by AGPC.

    Smoking is also prohibited in the Media Centre, on the disability viewing platform, and in GP Hubs. Smoking is not permitted in any staff work area, including team garages, marshall tents and contractor compounds.

    Smoking is permitted in general admission areas, other than:

    • In enclosed areas or;
    • Outdoor drinking and dining areas, with roof and 75% wall area.

    CIGARETTES ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON SITE

    spokes.com.au AUTOGRAPH STAGE

    The spokes.com.au Autograph Stage is located within Gardner Village (Circuit Map Grid Ref: K12).

    For appearances schedules, check the board displayed at the stage each day, watch GPTV or listen to GP Radio 87.6FM.

    Due to the popularity of MotoGP autograph sessions, a new system has been created to ensure a more fair and random approach to the way the patrons receive priority wristbands for these sessions.

    Raffle tickets will be handed out to patrons with a valid entry ticket (no credentials will be accepted) from 8.30am until 9am on Friday and Saturday. At 9am the raffle tickets will be drawn and the patron can choose to receive a priority wristband for one of the three MotoGP sessions being held that day. Once priority wrist bands have finished for one session patrons will be able to choose from the remaining sessions. Patrons can then come back when the MotoGP session is due to start. Other autograph sessions do not require priority wristband.

    STORAGE

    There is a storage facility located outside Gate 7 Pedestrian(Circuit Map Grid Ref: L12). This service is available for a $5 fee per item per day. Patrons booking Secure Motorcycle parking receive storage allocation for a helmet.

    SUPERSCREENS

    Eleven giant Custom Plate Superscreens will be provided around the circuit this year to further enhance viewing. Refer Circuit Map for locations (Circuit Map Grid Ref: F6, E10, G11, H11, J9, M7, N6, Q6, R5, O2 and L2).

    AUSTRALIAN SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

    Supercross is also known as the king of extreme sports and considered to be one of the most demanding sports in existence. Supercross comes to Phillip Island for the very first time with 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix hosting Round 2 of the Australian Supercross Championship at the Lukey Heights precinct.

    Access for people with a disability is available in Pit Roof VIP Village, Platinum or Gold, and Red Line Club. Tickets must be pre-booked.

    VISITOR CENTRE

    The Visitor Centre (Circuit Map Grid Ref: O11) will operate during the event, including:

    • Champions Café - Offering sit-down meals and refreshments, Phillip Island merchandise and gifts for sale.
    • History of Motorsport – A complete history of the Phillip Island circuit and the motorsport activities conducted there, including photographs and memorabilia.

    VUVUZELAS/HORNS

    Vuvuzelas – Horns, are a prohibited item, and not permitted on site. Refer Conditions or Entry (Section 5) at the rear of this section.

    WET WEATHER

    Umbrellas are not available on circuit. Personal umbrellas are permitted to be brought into the circuit - Refer to the Conditions of Entry at the rear of this section.

    Rain ponchos are available at most Official Merchandise outlets, designated with a T-Shirt symbol on the circuit map.

    WINGARA WINES

    As the official wine supplier of the 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, Wingara’s wine selection will be available at all public bars and served within all VIP Hospitality facilities.

    WILD TURKEY

    Campari is the event’s Official Supplier of Wild Turkey Bourbon and Spirits. Wild Turkey & American Honey will be available in all public retail bars, and served to VIP clients in their VIP Hospitality facilities.

    This double storey bar is located in Gardner Village (Circuit Map Grid Ref: G11). It offers patrons a place where they can savor a XXXX Gold whilst watching all the action on the big screen; or enjoy a bird's eye view of the track from the Retreat's second level.

    The ever-popular XXXX Angels will be performing on the XXXX Gold Retreat stage throughout the weekend.

    YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE FOUNDATION

    The You Are My Sunshine Foundation is a not for profit organization established in 2009.

    The aim of the organisation is to raise awareness of Neuroblastoma and to raise funds for research to find a cure. They are committed to distributing 100% of all funds donated to help fund research and all work carried out by YAMS Foundation is undertaken by unpaid volunteers.

    Neuroblastoma is the most common solid malignancy in children not involving the brain. It accounts for 6-10% of all childhood cancers and 15% of childhood cancer deaths, cancer being the leading cause of death in Australia of children aged 0-14 years old.

    At present, even with aggressive chemotherapy, only about 25% of children with advanced disease survive. Approximately 600 children are diagnosed with cancer in Australia each year, with up to 50 of these cases being Neuroblastoma.
