Catch-a-Coach
Get to the island - Bus

Forget petrol prices, parking costs and designated drivers. Just sit back, relax in 5-star coach comfort and be driven straight to the track and back again.

Coaches are available from the Melbourne CBD on Thursday – Sunday and from regional areas on Sunday only. One way and return trips are available, including one way trips back from Phillip Island on Sunday and Monday.

All Melbourne city coaches depart from Federation Square, within the Russell Street extension.

All Catch-a-Coach Services drop-off and pickup at Gate 3 on Gap Road at the circuit, with the following exceptions:

  • Thursday one-way service – Drop Off only at Gate 1
  • Monday one-way service – Pick Up only at Gate 1

A pre-booked wheelchair accessible bus will operate from Melbourne CBD (Federation Square) to Gate 3, departing at 7.30am Friday and 6:45am Saturday/Sunday of the event and returning each day. Phone bookings for this service are essential please call 1800 100 030.

The last coach from Phillip Island will depart 6.30pm^ on Friday & Saturday and 6.00pm^ on Sunday from Gate 3. ^Departure times subject to change.
All Friday, Saturday and Sunday coaches arrive to and depart from the circuit at Gate 3. Thursday and Monday one-way coaches arrive to and depart from V-line Bus Stop, Thompson Avenue/Chapel St, Cowes, stopping at the circuit at Gate 1.
The Catch-a-Coach service is operated by Firefly Coaches Pty Ltd (ABN 14 004 864 251) which is an independent contractor to, and not an agent of, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

Airport Buses

Airport Bus Dandenong

Airport Bus Dandenong provides an express service from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) to the Circuit and Cowes on the following days:

SkyBus

The SkyBus operates at frequent intervals between Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and Flinders Street Station in the Melbourne CBD. The Skybus can be taken to Flinders Street Station to link up with services to the circuit:

Cleelands Bus Lines

Cleeland Bus Lines provide an express service to Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and the CBD from Cowes/Circuit on Monday 19th October (post event). Other pickup locations are available. Bookings are essential and can be made closer to the event by calling (03) 5952 1042.

Ferry Services

Vehicle and pedestrian ferry options from Queenscliff and Stony Point to the circuit.

Dandenong to Cowes

V-line operate a coach service from Dandenong Station to Cowes, linking up with the Suburban train line to/from Southern Cross and Flinders Street.

Cape Paterson/Inverloch/Wonthaggi to Track

South Coast Bus operates a service between Cape Paterson/Inverloch/Wonthaggi and Gate 3 at the Circuit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Event.

Wonthaggi to Cowes

Air Services

Charter Plane

Return flights to Phillip Island from Essendon Airport can be chartered through GAMair. Conditions apply - for more information on fares and to book, please call GAMair on 1300 074 811.

The Phillip Island Airport is located on Phillip Island Road, approximately 10km east of the Circuit.

The Airport is located on the San Remo Route of the Grand Prix Shuttle Service, for more information on this service click here (insert Grand Prix Shuttle page link).

Direct transfers between Phillip Island Airport and the Circuit can be arranged through Cleelands Bus Lines – phone (03) 5952 1042.

Ride or Drive

If you are travelling by motorcycle or car from Melbourne, access to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is:

  • via Citylink or Eastlink tollways
  • Monash Freeway
  • South Gippsland Highway
  • Bass Highways to Anderson
  • Phillip Island Tourist Road across onto Phillip Island

From the Monash Freeway, signs will clearly identify the route to the circuit, which will include clear directional signs to the circuit parking areas. For up to date traffic reports tune to 3AW or Triple M radio stations.

Shuttle service operating to/from the circuit and the entire Phillip Island/surrounds. There are 5 Grand Prix Shuttle services operating from the following locations on Phillip Island to Gate 1 of the Circuit.

The Island Night Express service will operate on Friday & Saturday Nights from Midnight. The service will only pick up passengers in Cowes, at the Bus Terminal in Chapel Street.

House/Hotel Transfer

Cleelands Bus Lines offer a simple pickup/drop-off service between your accommodation and Gate 3. Bookings are essential. For more information or for bookings call Cleelands Bus Lines on (03) 5952 1042.

Taxi

For taxi service on Phillip Island please call on (03) 5952 2200. The Taxi rank is located at Gate 1, adjacent to the main bus stop. Please note that taxi’s are in high demand during the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix weekend and long delays may be encountered.

All public parking is paid for upon arrival at the car park (cash only) – no purchasing prior to Event days is available but tickets can be purchased in advance for following event days at the car park entrance gates.

Lukey/Siberia Car/Motorcycle Park

Lukey/Siberia Car Park is located on the north side of Back Beach Rd; pedestrian access to the Circuit is via Gate 3.

Lukey/Siberia Car Park is in the best location for the Troy Bayliss Invitational GP and Grandstand Patrons in Lukey Heights and Siberia Grandstands.

Patton’s Car/Motorcycle Park

Patton’s Car Park is located opposite Gate 1 on the north side of Back Beach Road. Pedestrian access is via Gate 1. Patton’s Car Park is the best location for vehicles returning to Cowes along with being the closest parking area to the Stoner Pavilion and the credentials collection office.

Circuit Car/Motorcycle Park

The Circuit Car/Motorcycle Park cover the area between Gates 1 and 7. Vehicles will be directed to park based on RETURN DESTINATION – Cowes or Melbourne.

This parking area is closest to facilities such as Gardner Grandstand, Doohan Pavilion, Stoner Pavilion, Motorcycle Clubs, VIP Village, Champion’s Club and High Octane Club. This will also be the closest parking area for precincts such as the GP Expo, Gardner Village and the National Support Paddock.

The Car Park for Patrons with a Disability is located directly outside Gate 7 and costs are the same as the Circuit Car Park. To park in this Car Park the vehicle must display a valid disability parking permit. A Disability Shuttle Stop is located at this car park. Campground Patrons will be directed to their camping location:

  • Highside Campground vehicles are permitted within the Highside Campground
  • Trackside Campground vehicles will be directed to a car park adjacent to the campground (a 30 minute unloading period within the campground is permitted).

Credentialed vehicles will also be located in this parking area and vehicles will be directed to their designated parking location as displayed on the vehicle credential sticker.

Secure Motorcycle Park

The Secure Motorcycle Car Park is located in a fenced area between Gate 1 and Gate 7. Storage of one item is included in the ticket price. Additional items can be securely stored for $3.50 per item.

Free Circuit Shuttle Bus Services

On-circuit shuttle services for VIP Patrons, Grandstand Patrons and Patrons with a Disability. There are four shuttle bus routes at the Phillip Island Circuit:

Leaving the Island

Exit from Circuit to Public Transport

For Catch a Coach and other Private and School Coaches please exit out Gate 3 and turn right. For Phillip Island Shuttle Buses and taxis, please exit out Gate 1 and cross Visitor Centre Drive to the Shuttle Bus queuing area.

The helipad can be accessed by exiting via Gate 7 Pedestrian.

Exit from Circuit to Car Parks

For the Circuit Car Park please exit via Gate 7 Pedestrian. For Patton’s Car Park please exit via Gate 1, cross Visitor Centre Drive and follow signs to Patton’s Car Park.

For Lukey/Siberia Car Park please exit via Gate 3, turn left and cross Back Beach Road.

When leaving Car Parks

Circuit Car Park

Cars will be parked upon entry by return destination. On exit, Cowes vehicles from the Circuit Car Park will be directed out via Gate 2 and turned left. Melbourne vehicles from the Circuit Car Park will be directed out via Visitor Centre Drive and turned right. Please be patient when leaving the circuit and car parks; please follow directions of Car Park Staff and Victoria Police.

Pattons Car Park

Cowes vehicles will be directed right out of Patton’s Car Park and Melbourne vehicles will be directed left. Please be patient when leaving the circuit and car parks; please follow directions of Car Park Staff and Victoria Police.

Lukey/Siberia Car Park

All Vehicles will be directed left out of Lukey/Siberia Car Park. Please be patient when leaving the circuit and car parks; please follow directions of Car Park Staff and Victoria Police.

Blue line Operation

When leaving the Circuit along Phillip Island Road (east of Back Beach Road) and the Bass Highway, two Melbourne bound lanes will operate with the aid of special blue line marking. Please be aware of this blue line operation, keep under the speed limit and obey directions by Victoria Police.
