Getting to Phillip Island

One-way and return trips from Melbourne to Phillip Island are available - just pick the option which best suits your needs.

Please note, all Melbourne departures and arrivals are from the Southern Cross Coach Terminal.

Coaches will depart for Phillip Island between the following times:

  • On Friday and Saturday, coaches depart Southern Cross Station between 6:30am-9:30am
  • On Sunday, coaches depart Southern Cross Station between 6:00am-9:00am

Simply arrive at Southern Cross Coach Terminal between these times and hop on the next available coach.

A pre-booked wheelchair-accessible bus will operate from Melbourne (Southern Cross Coach Terminal) to Gate 3, each day of the event. Phone bookings for this service are essential by calling 1800 100 030.

SkyBus operates an airport shuttle service between Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and Southern Cross Station regularly. Please refer to the SkyBus website for more information.

All Catch a Coach services drop off and pick up at Gate 3 on Gap Road at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, with the following exceptions:

  • Thursday one-way service: Drop-off at Gate 1, followed by Cowes V/Line Bus Stop (Thompson Ave/Chapel St)
  • Monday one-way service: Pick-up at Cowes V/Line Bus Stop (Thompson Ave/Chapel St), followed by Gate 1

Airport Buses

SkyBus

SkyBus offer a quick and frequent service to Southern Cross Station from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). SkyBus can be taken to Southern Cross Station to link up with services to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Ferry Services

Western Port Ferries (Stony Point to Cowes)

Passenger ferries operate daily between Stony Point and Cowes.

A MotoGP™ Ferry/Shuttle Package is available which includes return ferry travel and shuttle to/from the circuit.

This package must be booked online and is not available for purchase onboard the ferries. Conditions apply.

Regional Bus Services

Dandenong to Cowes

V/Line operates a coach service from Dandenong Station to Cowes, the main township of Phillip Island. There are plenty of accommodation options in Cowes as well as food and drink options. From Cowes, you can get to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on the local bus services.

Cape Paterson/Inverloch/Wonthaggi to Circuit

South Coast Bus operates a service between Cape Paterson/Inverloch/Wonthaggi and Gate 3 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event.

Wonthaggi to Cowes

Ride or Drive

If you are travelling by motorcycle or car from Melbourne, access to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is:

  • via Citylink or Eastlink tollways
  • Monash Freeway
  • South Gippsland Highway
  • Bass Highway to Anderson
  • Phillip Island Tourist Road across to Phillip Island

From the Monash Freeway, signs will clearly identify the route to the circuit, which will include clear directional signs to the circuit parking areas. For regular traffic reports, tune in to 3AW or Triple M radio stations.

Charter Helicopter Flights

The quickest and easiest way to get to the Pramac Generac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2019 is by helicopter! Leave traffic and parking problems behind as you travel in style between the city and the circuit in under an hour.

PHS offer charter helicopter flights from the Melbourne City helipad opposite Crown Casino or from their base at Moorabbin Airport direct to the Phillip Island Circuit. Prices are listed below:

Coach-n-Fly

Get to and from the Pramac Generac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2019 from the Melbourne CBD in under 90 minutes and skip the traffic coming home.

The coach will depart Southern Cross Station Coach Terminal at 7:45am (Sunday only) and will transfer you to our pre-arranged helicopter landing site at Tyabb Airport. You will then fly over Western Port Bay right into the heart of the action at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

This transfer option includes:

  • Return coach transfer from Southern Cross Station Coach Terminal
  • Return 15-minute helicopter transfer connecting you to the coach service

Parking is available at Southern Cross Station starting at $15.00 per day (book online here) or simply catch a train or connecting SkyBus from Melbourne Airport, it’s that easy.

There is a shuttle service operating to/from the circuit and the entire Phillip Island and surrounds. There are four Grand Prix Shuttle Services operating from the following locations on Phillip Island to Gate 1 of the Circuit until 6.30pm, and to the Visitor Centre Car Park from 6.30pm.

For patrons wishing to travel to/from the Inverloch and Wonthaggi areas, please contact South Coast Bus Lines directly to book a pre-paid service.

The Bus Stop at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is located at Gate 1. Shuttles will pick up and drop off from Gate 1 until 6.30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

After 6.30pm, the Grand Prix Shuttle Service will pick up and drop off from the Visitor Centre Car Park to cater for campground patrons.

Helicopter Scenic Flights

Get a bird's eye view of the Pramac Generac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2019! A scenic helicopter flight will take you on two laps of the Circuit (approximately 6 to 9 minutes) providing a unique view of the Circuit with stunning photo opportunities of Phillip Island and the Bass Straight.

Scenic helicopter flights can be booked in person at the Helipad outside Gate 7, or at the ticket sales booth located at Gate 3. A scenic flight costs $90 per person.

You can also book online before the event by visiting the website of our helicopter partner PHS. Pre-bookings do not lock you into a particular time or date, just keep hold of your voucher and present it at the helipad when you are ready to fly.

Wondering how to get to the helipad at Gate 7 if you’re on the other side of the circuit? Holders of a voucher for the Scenic Flights can catch a ride to the Helipad via the VIP Hospitality Shuttle.

For taxi service on Phillip Island, please call (03) 5952 2200. The Taxi Rank is located at Gate 3, on Gap Road North. Please note, taxis are in high demand during the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix weekend and long delays may be encountered.

Card payments will be accepted for all Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit parking this year.

Circuit Parking

Parking is available within the Phillip Island circuit and access is via Gate 2 on Back Beach Road. Parking is available for cars and motorcycles. All vehicles will be directed to park based on your return destination – Cowes or Melbourne. All vehicles will be parked between Gates 1 and 7 and patrons will enter the circuit via either of these gates.

This parking area is closest to facilities such as:

  • Gardner Grandstand, Doohan Pavilion, Stoner Pavilion.
  • Motorcycle Clubs, VIP Village, Champions Club and High Octane Club. 
  • This will also be the closest parking area for precincts such as the GP Expo, Gardner Village and the National Support Paddock. 
  • A 15-minute parking area is situated outside the Accreditation office. 

There is a specific accessibility car park for any patrons with a disability. This is located directly outside Gate 7. To park in this area, the vehicle must display a valid disability parking permit. An accessible parking sticker can be arranged through AGPC in the lead-up to the event, please call (03) 9258 7100. A Disability Shuttle Stop is located at this car park. For full information for patrons with a disability, please click here.

Campground patrons will be directed to their camping location:

  • Highside Campground vehicles are permitted within the Highside Campground.
  • Trackside Campground vehicles will be directed to a car park adjacent to the campground (a 30-minute unloading period within the campground is permitted). Only motorcycles will be permitted to park in the Trackside Campground. Accredited vehicles will also be located in this parking area and vehicles will be directed to their designated parking location as displayed on the vehicle accreditation sticker.

Patton’s Parking

Patton's Parking is located opposite Gate 1 on the north side of Back Beach Road. Parking is available for cars and motorcycles. Patrons can access the circuit via Gate 1.

Patton's Parking is the best location for vehicles returning to Cowes along with being the closest parking area to Stoner Pavilion.

Lukey/Siberia Parking  

Lukey/Siberia Parking is located on the north side of Back Beach Road. Parking is available for cars and motorcycles. Patrons can access the circuit via Gate 3.

The Lukey/Siberia Parking is the best location for The Clubhouse and patrons in the Lukey Heights and Siberia Grandstands.

Leaving Phillip Island

Exit from Circuit to Public Transport

For Catch a Coach and other private and school coaches, please exit via Gate 3 and turn right.

For Phillip Island Shuttle Buses please exit via Gate 1 and cross Visitor Centre Drive to the Shuttle Bus Queuing Area.

The Helipad can be accessed by exiting via Gate 7 Pedestrian.

Exit from Circuit to Car Parks

For the Circuit Car Park, please exit via Gate 7 Pedestrian.

For Patton's Car Park, please exit via Gate 1, cross Visitor Centre Drive and follow the signs to Patton's Car Park.

For the Lukey/Siberia Car Park, please exit via Gate 3, turn left and cross Back Beach Road.

When Leaving Car Parks

Please be patient when leaving the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and follow directions from car park staff and Victoria Police.

Circuit Car Park

Cars will be parked upon entry by return destination.

On exit, Cowes-bound vehicles will be directed out via Gate 2 and turned left.

Melbourne-bound vehicles will be directed out via Visitor Centre Drive and turned right.

Patton's Car Park

Cowes-bound vehicles will be directed right out of Patton's Car Park, and Melbourne-bound vehicles will be directed left.

Lukey/Siberia Car Park

All vehicles will be directed left out of the Lukey/Siberia Car Park.

Blue Line Operation

When leaving the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit along Phillip Island Road (east of Back Beach Road) and the Bass Highway, two Melbourne-bound lanes will operate with the aid of special blue line marking.

Please be aware of this blue line operation, keep under the speed limit and obey directions by Victoria Police.
