The ski — snow, not water — loving Spaniard hasn't enjoyed a great time of it over the last few years, but the arrival of the new RS-16 Aprilia could just be the magic potion to turn things around. He's got the speed, smarts and daring — fifth and sixth places in the 2012 and 2013 MotoGP titles is proof of that — but over the last two years he's dropped down the order to 11th and then 16th in 2015. However, with Aprilia returning to MotoGP action a year earlier than anticipated there were mitigating circumstances, but the pressure will be back on again this year as MotoGP is 'reset' with the spec electronics and a new tyre supplier in Michelin. Bautista started, like so many of his contemporaries, Grand Prix racing in the 125cc class, and became World Champion in 2006 before moving up to the intermediate 250s (a best of second in 2008) and then MotoGP in 2010. He is a 16-time race winner in the 125s and 250s.
