Yamaha riders have dominated qualifying for the second and final round of the 2015 Phillip Island Supersport Championship at the Victorian seaside circuit, with Michael Blair easily claiming pole position ahead of Callum Spriggs and Mitch Levy.
Blair leads the championship after a clean sweep at round one way back in February, and this morning he picked up where he left off eight months ago by securing pole position by nearly a second. He will now start as hot favourite across the three eight-lap races, starting with race one at 5:35pm on Friday afternoon.
"It felt really good this morning and I played it smart by setting my fastest lap early," said Blair. "I am happy with how it's all going and my strategy in the race is simple: get the holeshot and see if the other guys can keep up."
Spriggs and Levy will be attempting just that as they join Blair on the front row of the grid, while the second row is headed up by the first non-Yamaha entry in the hands of New South Wales rider Kane Burns.
Alongside him are two more Yamahas ridden by Luke Mitchell and Ryan Taylor.
Taylor is currently third in the Phillip Island Supersport Championship on 33pts behind Blair (50pts) and Spriggs (40pts).
Thirteen riders will line up in race one.
