Moto2™ rider Remy Gardner has finished P11 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, recovering from a P18 start on the grid after an earlier crash during qualifying.
The Australian gained five championship points with his finish, which sees Gardner move to 4th in the championship standings after an impressive start to his 2019 Moto2™ campaign - with a top 5 finish in Qatar and a maiden podium in Argentina.
“It was a tough weekend.” Gardner said. “A crash in qualifying didn’t help us out and unfortunately I made a good start but Balda’s (Lorenzo Baldassarri) crash sent me really wide and I almost went down.
"I lost a lot of time and then destroyed my tyres, pushing like a maniac to recover. After that it was a case of bringing the bike home and in the end we got some valuable points and kept a top five position overall in the championship.
"I’m looking forward to the European races and am heading to Jerez with a clear mind.”
Gardner is already within two points of his 2018 Moto2™ championship tally, and will be looking to eclipse that at the Circuito de Jerez 3-5 May.
