Australia’s Remy Gardner is determined to “pull some points back” after a costly mistake at the French GP.
The SAG Racing Team rider, who started from the fourth row on the grid, worked his way up to P6 after 10 laps.
But despite showing plenty of pace, Gardner was unable to finish the Moto2™ race following a fall on Lap 12.
It was Gardner’s second straight DNF, following a frightening crash at the Spanish GP a fortnight prior.
“The race itself was disappointing after a major mistake on my end,” Gardner said.
“I entered the corner 1 km/h faster, but I lost the front and some very important points. On the bright side we were fast, and we were in the mix and it should have been an easy top-five.
“These things happen but it can’t happen again. We move on to Italy where we need to finish the race and pull some points back.”
Alex Marquez took the chequered flag after looking untouchable for most of the race, followed by Jorge Navarro and Augusto Fernandez.
The Moto2™ season continues at the Italian GP on 31 May-2 June at Mugello.
