Tenth in the 2015 Moto3 Australian Grand Prix – the sole points finish of his first full world championship season – was a landmark result, and represented relief. Gardner's rise thereafter required patience – it wasn't until 2019 that he finished on a podium and a maiden win didn’t come until 2020 – but he's now enjoying the sort of success his surname demanded.
Remy is his own man as much as he's Wayne's son these days, and a settled life off-track led to success on it as he secured the 2021 Moto2 title. A first big-bike home race in 2022 will come with expectation; equally, it's as much of a celebration of what he's done to date as to what's down the track.
