A short trip from Geelong to Queenscliff will get your journey going, and from there you can catch the ferry to Sorrento, one of Victoria’s most popular beach towns. Head straight to Cape Schanck Lighthouse and then take Frankston-Flinders Road to Western Port Highway and follow Tyabb-Tooradin Road and Baxter-Tooradin Road until you reach the South Gippsland Highway. From there, follow to Phillip Island.
The Cape Schanck Lighthouse has served shipping since 1859 and original mechanisms are still in place. Guided tours are available and you can observe great coastal scenery from this vantage point before having lunch at Fingal Picnic Area.
If you decide against lunch in Cape Schanck, a stop off in Flinders might tempt you, with Flinders Fish & Chips and The Deck Bar & Bistro both highly recommended. Merricks General Wine Store in Hastings also wins rave reviews for fine wine, food and art.
Enhance your MotoGP™ visit by staying at Phillip Island or close by. Accommodation is available at the circuit or across the island.
The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is an annual pilgrimage for thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts every year, taking the Searoad Ferries passenger service from Queenscliff to Sorrento is not just a great way to get across the bay, but gives you the opportunity to meet some new MotoGP™ fans.
