TAC Pause Stop

The TAC Pause Stop program encourages motorists to pull over, take a break and recharge so everyone can get to their destination safely.

Here are a few ways to avoid drowsy driving:

  • Be sure to get a good night’s rest before you travel
  • Take a break every two hours on your way
  • Take a 15-minute powernap if you feel drowsy
  • Share the driving where possible

Make your journey down to Phillip Island as stress-free and straightforward as possible with plenty of travel options.

Catch-a-Coach

One-way Catch-a-Coach trips are available to and from Melbourne (Southern Cross Station) and Phillip Island.

Coaches will depart Southern Cross Station for Phillip Island between the following times:

  • Friday - 6:30 AM - 9:30 AM
  • Saturday -  6:00 AM - 9:30 AM
  • Sunday - 6:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Arrive at the Southern Cross Coach Terminal between these times and hop on the next available coach.

Pick-Up Locations

  • Melbourne CBD: Southern Cross Station Bus Terminal
  • Cranbourne (Sunday): Cranbourne Highway Service Road, in front of KFC (Departs at 7:30 AM)
  • Clayton (Sunday): Monash University Clayton car park, off Wellington road (Google Maps: Location, Nearby Parking) (Departs at 7:00 AM)

All Catch-a-Coach services drop off and pick up at Gate 3 on Gap Road at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, with the following exceptions:

  • Thursday one-way service: Departure at 2:00 PM from Southern Cross Station. Drop-off at Gate 1, followed by Cowes V/Line Bus Stop (Thompson Ave/Chapel Street)
  • Monday one-way service: Pick-up at Cowes V/Line Bus Stop at 11:00 AM (Thompson Ave/Chapel Street), followed by Gate 1 at 11:30 am.

 

Coaches depart the circuit from Gate 3 back to Melbourne during the following periods:

  • Friday and Saturday: Depart between 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Sunday: Depart between 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM

The last coach departs the circuit when the gates close. Please leave enough time to get to the Gate 3 coach stop before the gates close.

 

Grand Prix Shuttle Service

There are four Grand Prix Shuttle services that operate to/from the circuit:

  • Cowes Central,
  • Cowes West-Ventnor,
  • San Remo – Cape Woolamai, and
  • Rhyll - Silverleaves

The Grand Prix Shuttle service departs from Gate 1 of the Circuit until 6.00 pm and from the Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre Car Park between 6.00 pm till midnight.

Tickets are $18 for a day pass or $10 for one-way (available for return from circuit trips and evening service only).

Regional Bus Services

Dandenong to Cowes

V/Line operates a coach service from Dandenong Station to Cowes, the main township of Phillip Island. Bookings are essential

Cape Paterson/Inverloch/Wonthaggi to Circuit

South Coast Bus operates a service between Cape Paterson/Inverloch/Wonthaggi and Gate 3 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event.

Patrons wishing to travel to/from the Inverloch and Wonthaggi areas should contact South Coast Bus directly. Bookings are essential.

South Coast Bus also operates a PTV route service from Wonthaggi to Cowes. Bookings are not required.

Melbourne Suburban Train Network

Trains can be taken to the following locations to link up with services to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit:

Regional Train Network

Regional V/Line train services connect with the Melbourne suburban network at Southern Cross Station.

Ferry

A fast cat passenger ferry operates daily between Stony Point on the Mornington Peninsula and Cowes, Phillip Island. The travel time is approximately 20 minutes.

Airports and Transfers

Enjoy easy access from two international airports, with excellent transport links across Victoria.

  • 162 kilometres (101 miles) from Melbourne Airport
  • 190 kilometres (118 miles) from Avalon Airport

 

SkyBus

SkyBus offers quick and frequent service to Southern Cross Station from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). SkyBus can be taken to Southern Cross Station to link up with Catch-a-Coach service to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Helicopter

The quickest and easiest way to get to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025 is by helicopter! Leave traffic and parking problems behind as you travel in style between the city and the circuit in under an hour.

PHS offers charter helicopter flights from Essendon, Moorabbin, and Tyabb Airports direct to the Phillip Island Circuit. Prices are listed below

Essendon Airport Transfers

  • One-Way flight: $895 per person
  • Return: $1,195 per person

Moorabbin Airport Transfers

  • One-Way flight: $695 per person
  • Return: $845 per person

Tyabb Airport Transfers

  • Fly in from the Mornington Peninsula
  • Return: $450 per person

The helipad at the circuit is located to the west of Gate 7.

Helicopter Scenic Flights

Get a bird's eye view of the MotoGP™! A scenic helicopter flight will take you on two laps of the Circuit (approximately 6 to 9 minutes), providing a unique view of the Circuit with stunning photo opportunities of Phillip Island and the Bass Straight.

Scenic helicopter flights can be booked in person at the Helipad outside Gate 7, or at the ticket sales booth located at GP Expo. A scenic flight costs $120 per person.

You can also book online before the event by visiting our helicopter partner PHS's website. Pre-bookings do not lock you into a particular time or date, just keep hold of your voucher and present it at the helipad when you are ready to fly.

Wondering how to get to the helipad at Gate 7 if you’re on the other side of the circuit? Holders of a voucher for the Scenic Flights can catch a ride to the Helipad via the VIP Hospitality Shuttle.

Helicopter Landings

For those who wish to fly their own helicopter to the circuit, you will need to register and complete a Helicopter Landing Registration Form.

If you are travelling by motorcycle or car from Melbourne, access to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is:

  • via Citylink (M1) or Eastlink (M3) tollways
  • Monash Freeway (M1)
  • South Gippsland Highway (M420)
  • Bass Highway (M420) and Phillip Island Link Road (B420) to San Remo
  • Phillip Island Tourist Road (B420) and Back Beach Road (C478) across Phillip Island

From the Monash Freeway, signs will clearly identify the route to the circuit, which will include clear directional signs to the circuit parking areas. For regular traffic reports, tune in to 3AW or Triple M radio stations.
 

 

Taxi

For taxi service on Phillip Island, please call (03) 5952 2200. The Taxi Rank is located at Gate 3, on Gap Road North. Please note, taxis are in high demand during the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025 weekend and long delays may be encountered.

 

Circuit Parking

Parking is available at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit. Access is via Gate 2 on Back Beach Road. Parking is available for cars and motorcycles. The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025 utilises destination parking (parking based on return destination), therefore allowing an easier exit each day.

All vehicles will be parked between Gates 1 and 7 and patrons can enter the circuit via either of these gates.

All public parking is paid for upon arrival at the car park (cash and card accepted). Purchasing of parking is not available prior to the event.

External Parking

  • Lukey/Siberia Parking - Melbourne Return Parking for cars and motorcycles. Located near Gate 3
  • Patton’s Parking – Cowes Return Parking for cars and motorcycles. Located opposite Gate 1.

Park and Ride

Parking in town at either Cowes or San Remo is also recommended. The Grand Prix Shuttle service can then take you to/from the circuit. For more details, see Grand Prix Shuttle Service details.

 

Cloaking at the MotoGP™

Cloaking is available for all patrons at the event. Secure cloaking is located at the Public Storage facility within the Circuit Motorcycle Parking Area near Gate 1. Cloaking at this year’s event is free thanks to the Spokes Helmet Storage Facility.

Motorcycle helmets are not permitted into the event and can be cloaked. Patrons can also cloak any other riding gear (inc boots, gloves, jackets and vests).

Prohibited items as well as big and bulky items that are not allowed into the event, such as eskies, fireworks and bicycles, will not be accepted.
