Monday, 30 August 2021

The Aussie extends his lead in the Championship.

Remy Gardner has secured his fourth win of the season in the Moto2 World Championship™ at the British Grand Prix.

The Australian fought from the second row of the grid, crucially holding his position into the first corner.

From there, the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider had his eyes set on the front of the pack and started to make his charge through the group by lap 5.

The battle at the front came down to Gardner and Marco Bezzecchi who remained one-two for most of the race. In the end, Gardner proved too strong and claimed victory.

“I’m lost for words. It was an incredible day. I felt good throughout all the sessions this weekend and, especially, on the hard tyre, I had a strong pace,” Gardner said after the race.

“I am very happy to have achieved this victory and to have claimed 25 points which are very important.

“I want to thank the team and everyone who has supported me. I can’t wait for the next round, in which I will continue to do my best.”

Gardner continues to lead the Moto2 World Championship™ with 231 points. Raul Fernandez remains in second with 187 points, and Bezzecchi is in third with 179 points.

The Championships will continue in two weeks for the Aragon Grand Prix, from September 10-12th.
