Juniors on the Rise in the Oceania Junior Cup

Friday, 14 October 2022

Presented by Let’s Go Motorhomes

The next generation of Australian racers will get their chance to shine at the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022.

Twenty riders aged between 11 and 16 years of age will take to the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit to battle for race honours on their fleet of Yamaha YZF-R15s, with a special prize. The overall winner from the three races will take home the inaugural Mick Doohan Trophy. The five-time world champion has been a prominent supporter of developing junior talent, and the battle for the podium positions is bound to be a tight one.

Queenslander Harrison Watts currently leads the OJC points and has been consistently the rider to beat. Hard on his wheels is Cameron Rende from South Australia, while Hudson Thompson will be waving the Victorian flag high to keep the locals happy.

With such varied experience, the young’uns are sure to battle up and down the field. Be sure to keep one eye on the battles and do not be distracted by any mention of Nixon Frost; no, not the movie title back-to-front, but an 11-year-old from Wellington in New Zealand!

It's your last chance to secure Grandstand tickets to Race Day at the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022.

The Oceania Junior Cup racers are due to take to the track at 1145 for Practice, with Qualifying at 1605 and the opening race of the weekend over seven laps at 1710.
