Australian fans may have been wondering where Joel Kelso was when the Moto3™ bikes lined up on the grid for Sunday’s race in France.
Injuries sustained during a freak accident in the morning warm-up at Jerez forced Kelso to sit on the sidelines and prioritise his recovery.

It was a bittersweet decision for the Aussie after he qualified in P11 at Le Mans, his best for the season yet.
Although it was disappointing for him to miss out on the race, it’s clear to see that the Northern Territorian is making progress and gaining more speed in the ruthless Moto3™ class.
Kelso shared on social media; “Unfortunately, we have made the decision that it’s best not to take part in the French GP.
“I am really sorry to not only the team but to all the sponsors who have come out to watch us.
“We needed to make this difficult decision so I can work towards being fully fit for the rest of the season and not injure myself further.
“Hopefully, I will come back fighting and fit for Mugello.”
The Italian Grand Prix at Mugello takes place on May 29.
