Remy Gardner: Red Bull KTM Ajo secure the Team World Championship

Monday, 13 September 2021

The dominant rider performances have led to an early victory.

The Aragon Grand Prix has been another dominant weekend for the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, with Raul Fernandez and Remy Gardner achieving their fifth one-two for the season.

Gardner started from second on the grid but quickly found himself in P3 after Fernandez was able to get past. After defending from those riders behind, a crash from Sam Lowes elevated the Australian into P2.

Gardner remained in that spot behind Fernandez until the chequered flag, completing the one-two finish and claiming his 6th podium for the year.

“I’m happy because Aragon is a difficult track, and second place feels like a victory. Fortunately, I have only dropped five points. There are still many contests to go this season, we are performing at a good level and we will take things race by race,” Gardner reflected.

“The history of this team is incredible, and my name is part of it. I think I picked a good team who have dominated throughout the year and winning the Championship with five rounds to go is incredible. They have put a great team together, the guys in the box work hard and we are like a family. Congratulations!”

Gardner remains ahead of his teammate in the World Standings with 251 points. Fernandez has 212, and Marco Bezzecchi rounds out the top three with 179.

The Championship continues this weekend for the San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano circuit in Italy.
