Remy Gardner: Door to MotoGP™ is already halfway open

Thursday, 1 April 2021

The Aussie has his eyes on the premier class.

The official Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has today released a MotoGP™ episode featuring Australian Moto2™ rising star, Remy Gardner.

Gardner joins In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Chris Vermeulen to discuss his big break with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, his maiden win last year in Portugal, and his timeline to break into MotoGP™.

When discussing his new Red Bull KTM Ajo team and bike, Gardner says his 2021 bike is similar to his 2020 Kalex when racing for the Onexox TKKR SAG Team, but he has already noticed other differences in the team after the first weekend of racing.

“It’s similar but what I do notice is the professionalism in the team and the amount of parts we have to try, it’s on another level,” Gardner said.

Gardner goes on to discuss his pathway to MotoGP™ and how he hopes to enter the top class as early as next year.

“I wanted to be up this year, honestly. Unfortunately, I didn’t get up but in the end, that’s another opportunity to go for the Moto2 title and obviously looking to go up for next year. The good thing is, that door is already halfway open with KTM,” Gardner continued.

Finally, Gardner shares his desire to get back to Phillip Island for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, which he says is his favourite circuit on the calendar.

“Hopefully we can get back to Phillip Island, go see the fans, get to race at the amazing track – it’s my favourite track on the whole calendar.”
