The 19-year-old Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider showcased remarkable skill and composure, executing a stunning double overtake in the final corners of a thrilling race.

Starting from fifth on the grid, Agius quickly established himself within the leading pack, battling fiercely amidst challenging and windy conditions that tested the entire field. As the laps wound down, Agius found himself in third position, strategically positioning himself for a final assault. In a dramatic conclusion to the 17-lap contest, with leaders Alonso and Canet jostling for supremacy heading into the Vale chicane on the last lap, Agius seized his opportunity. As the front pair ran slightly wide, the young Australian dived up the inside, masterfully navigating the tight turns to snatch the lead and storm across the finish line for an emotional first Grand Prix win. Brazil's Diogo Moreira secured second, with Colombia's David Alonso taking his maiden Moto2™ podium in third.

"I honestly can't believe it,” an ecstatic Agius said. “It hasn't sunk in yet, grand prix winner sounds pretty f*****g good to me, mate."

He elaborated on his race strategy and the intense battle, "I battled so hard during the race and I always get passed on the straight, and I couldn't pass in sector one, and I couldn't quite get a good enough drive out of two, so I was thinking I need to pass and get a gap for the straight."

Reflecting on the decisive final moments, Agius explained, "When Alonso went for Aron I saw Aron square him up and I went this is going to go bad so I waited, let the brake off and I couldn't believe it."

The victory was not only a personal milestone for Agius but also a significant moment for his Intact GP team. Team Manager Jurgen Lingg, praised the young rider: “We knew that he would be there in the race, but we didn't expect him to win his first grand prix today, even though we were hoping for a strong result. We saw him at some point in Spain and were convinced by him from the very first moment... Today, he confirmed it very impressively."

Agius also dedicated the emotional win to his late grandfather who was instrumental in his European racing career. "When I crossed the line, I started crying – I stopped in turn one and looked up to the sky. I thought of my grandfather, who passed away and helped get me to Europe. This one's for him, and for my team, who've believed in me from the beginning,” Agius shared.

The Silverstone triumph has propelled Senna Agius to sixth in the Moto2™ World Championship standings, marking a significant step in the promising career of the talented Australian racer.
