Thompson's victory in the Red Bull Rookies Cup was particularly impressive given the circumstances. The 17-year-old had to overcome a long-lap penalty, which he received for a high-speed collision with Veda Pratama that unfortunately caused the Indonesian rider to fall.

Despite this setback, Thompson showcased his resilience and skill, emerging victorious from a thrilling four-rider battle into the final corner. He finished ahead of competitors Hakim Danish, Kristian Daniel Jr., and Marco Morelli.
Reflecting on the race, Thompson said, “It was definitely a crazy race. A lot happened, the conditions were quite a lot different to the rest of the weekend. The track was so much cooler that there was more of a drop in rear tyre grip, so I was really hunting for that at the end.”
He added, “It's the first time in Rookies Cup I've really been fighting for the win, so now I know how it all works. It should definitely be a big help for the rest of the year.”
This result has propelled Thompson to second place overall in the championship standings, just two points behind the leader, Hakim Danish.
Let's cheer on Carter Thompson as he aims to maintain his momentum and strive for more victories in the 2025 Red Bull Rookies Cup season.
