Davide Tardozzi: Jack Miller can be World Champion

Thursday, 1 July 2021

The team boss is optimistic about the Aussie's future.

The official Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has released its latest episode, featuring Ducati Lenovo Team Manager Davide Tardozzi.

The former Italian Superbike champion joined In the Fast Lane co-host Matt Clayton and Chris Vermeulen to discuss Jack Miller’s performance and what he needs to do to become a World Champion.

Tardozzi oversaw Ducati’s big rider shake-up, replacing Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso with Jack Miller and Pecco Bagnaia.

“It was tough ... we think we have to make a change, but honestly we have to look forward,” said Tardozzi.

“We thought that Pecco and Jack, it was time to grow … it seems the result at the beginning of the season is not so bad. We are very happy about the attitude of the riders first and then the results.”

Tardozzi has the best part of forty years’ experience in the sport. He’s seen countless riders grow to become World Champions and he believes Jack Miller is on the right track.

“Sometimes he trusts himself, but sometimes maybe he has some small issue that he doesn’t convince himself.”

“I see Jack growing … he has become a professional rider. He is an intelligent guy, he understood it was time to make a step ahead. We trust him, we trust he can be a top rider. He is a top rider,” he continued.

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
