Gardner’s qualifying was a highlight of the British MotoGP™

Monday, 8 August 2022

The Australian’s best qualifying performance.

Remy Gardner had his strongest qualifying performance at the British MotoGP™ with a P16 upon returning from the summer break.

After solid speed on Saturday, Gardner looked fast early in Sunday’s race – making his way up to P13.

On Lap 3, Remy recorded his fastest lap (1:59.953) and maintained sub-two-minute laps for a few laps after that.

“I took a decent start to the race and had a very good first half. I managed to get my way to P13 and was feeling good,” said Gardner.

It wasn’t until later in the race that Gardner struggled and began to lose pace.

“Around lap 10, some riders came past me. I tried to hang on a bit more to them, but the tyres were dropping so I tried to survive.”

“Anyway, the gap to the front is the closest it has been all year, the pace was good, so it was a positive weekend overall.”

Gardner eventually crossed the line in P18, with his Tech3 KTM Factory Racing teammate Raul Fernandez finishing in P21.

Round 13 on the season calendar is the Austrian MotoGP™, between 19-21 August.
