The Aussie will be racing with Ongetta Sic58 Squadracorse in the Moto3™ class.

Team owner Paolo Simoncelli founded the Italian team Ongetta Sic58 Squadracorse in honour of his son, legendary MotoGP™ rider Marco Simonelli who was tragically killed in a racing collision at the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix.

Shortly after that, Circuito Internazionale Santa Monica formally changed their name to Misano World Circuit Marco Simonelli to commemorate it.

The enormity of the opportunity of racing with this team at Misano World Circuit Marco Simonelli is not lost on the sixteen-year-old.

“It is a very special opportunity to be given a wildcard, especially at the home ground of Misano and of Simoncelli,” said Voight.

Voight isn’t expecting “too much” and is focused on learning as much as possible at the world championship level.

The goal is to take as many of his learnings as he can back into the Junior World Championship to finish the rest of the season off strong.

Voight is currently racing in both CV Moto3 Junior World Championship for SIC58 Squadra Corse Team and the prestigious Red Bull Rookies Cup.

The Queensland-born racer will be in good company at Misano with Aussies Jack Miller and Remy Gardner in the MotoGP™ class, Senna Agius (Wildcard) in Moto2™ and Joel Kelso in Moto3.

While Voight already has a few friends in the World Championship paddock, Ducati rider Miller has been most helpful in his career thus far.

“I have some guidance from Jack (Miller) sometimes, which has been really helpful. It’s been great that he has been looking out for me because he has been through this all before. I really appreciate all of his support.”

Don’t miss the action when the Aussies take over Misano on the 4th of September.
