Joel Kelso joins Jack Miller and Remy Gardner on the world stage

Thursday, 30 September 2021

The young Aussie will join Moto3™ next season.

The official Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has released its latest episode, featuring Australian Moto3™ rider Joel Kelso.

Kelso joined In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Chris Vermeulen to talk about becoming the third Australian to race on the world stage next season when he competes in Moto3™ for the CIP Green Power team.

The 18-year-old can’t wait to return to home soil and compete at Phillip Island in 2022, saying it’s not just about the racing, it’s the atmosphere of Australia that he misses most.

“I want all my family there, it’s the first race I can have everyone there… when you go to Europe, you’re kind of alone. You have obviously a few Spanish fans here and there but it’s a different environment when you’re in Australia. You have all your fans and your family and your friends there,” Kelso said.

“It’s at the top of the list, I can’t wait for the race, its not even on the racing side of things, it’s the atmosphere around the track will be amazing,” he continued.

He also reflects on his journey from the Northern Territory to Italy and Spain, discuss his call-up to Moto3™ in Germany and the Netherlands earlier this year, and recap his race-winning season in the Moto3™ class of the CEV Junior World Championship.

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
