Johann Zarco: No regrets in moving to Pramac Racing

Thursday, 23 September 2021

The Frenchman said leaving KTM in 2019 was akin to a divorce.

The official Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has released its latest episode, featuring Pramac Racing rider Johann Zarco.

Zarco joined In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Chris Vermeulen to examine the current MotoGP™ season, discuss his decision to leave KTM and reveal the similarities between himself and Australian rider Remy Gardner.

Gardner is currently gearing up for his first MotoGP™ season next year. Zarco said he has watched the Aussie compete in Moto2™ and sees a lot of himself in the 23-year-old.

“He’s taking the confidence and now he will race as if he is always on the podium and he can catch the world title,” said Zarco.

So far this year Zarco has enjoyed a series of podium finishes and currently sits fourth in the MotoGP™ standings.

“I am even more happy to continue next year with them (Pramac Racing) because you feel what I am building will be so strong and the moment I will find the right thing I think can be very strong,” said Zarco.

The Frenchman told In The Fast Lane, the process of leaving KTM in 2019 was akin to a divorce, but despite the challenges of joining a new team, he doesn’t regret the decision.

“This feeling of regret something is not there. That’s the story, that’s all.”

“I really reached a point in that stage. Ok, I don’t like to be paid to do nothing, so just let me go - but now I could get better on the Ducati,” he continued.

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
