Marquez leads 400 supporters to iconic Phillip Island circuit

A once-in-a-lifetime experience to ride alongside one of the sport’s greats.
Over 400 eager MotoGP™ supporters lined up their bikes in San Remo today alongside six-time world champion Marc Marquez for the Homecoming Ride, a once-in-a-lifetime experience to ride alongside one of the sport’s greats.
Marquez secured his 100th MotoGP™ podium at Phillip Island last year and will be looking to finish the 2023 season in similar form. After 11 years with Honda, this will also be Marquez’ last Australian appearance with the team before joining the Ducati satellite team, Gresini Racing, for the 2024 season.

Pedro Acosta, the current leader of the Moto2™ class, and Australian Moto3™ rider Joel Kelso joined Marquez for a Q&A ahead of the ride before making their way to the circuit, where they led fans for a lap.
Acosta has secured a seat in MotoGP™ for 2024 with the KTM team and holds a comfortable lead in the Moto2™ championship after seven wins this season.
Kelso’s best result in his two seasons in Moto3™ was at Phillip Island in 2022 with an 8th place finish, and after a challenging 2023 so far, he will be eager to replicate that result this weekend.
Australian motorcycling legend and former world champion Wayne Gardner also joined the Homecoming Ride, alongside Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld, who is heading into his first event in the role.
The MotoGP™ Guru by Gryfyn Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix begins on Friday, with the three-day track schedule including a new MotoGP™ sprint race on Saturday for the first time in Australia.
