MotoGP™ set to race in Buenos Aires from 2027

The Grand Prix of Argentina is set to return with a fresh twist in 2027, relocating to one of the world’s most iconic cities: Buenos Aires.

Work is already underway to bring MotoGP back to the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez, situated just outside the capital. 

The move ensures that fans across Argentina will only experience a one-year break before the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship returns to their shores.

The Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez, which is undergoing a full renovation including updates to the track layout, has a rich history with MotoGP, having hosted races in the 1960s, 1980s, and 1990s. The venue has seen legendary riders compete and unforgettable battles unfold. 

Following record-breaking crowds in recent years, fans can now look forward to even more thrilling action — this time set against the vibrant backdrop of Buenos Aires.

Jorge Macri, Chief of Government of Buenos Aires, stated:

“We are consolidating our city's sporting leadership on a global level. The most important category of motorcycle racing returns to Gálvez. We have hosted ten Grands Prix, and almost 30 years later, we will once again be among the world's leading circuits, like Barcelona and Silverstone.

Starting in October, we will undertake a comprehensive renovation of the circuit, which includes work on the track, pits, paddock and safety zones, incorporating the latest technology. With this investment in infrastructure, security, logistics, and connectivity, we will bring the venue up to international standards. Bringing MotoGP to the city means the arrival of an elite competition, with the most important international teams and riders, which will be enjoyed by around 150,000 people at the track and millions of viewers via television and streaming in more than 200 territories.”

Orly Terranova, President of Grupo OSD, added:

"What does it mean for Argentina to have MotoGP at the Gálvez circuit from 2027? It's an important step for the city of Buenos Aires. An event has emerged for one of the most important motorsports, which will greatly contribute to the development of local sport and a lot of tourism. This is something that several capital cities in different countries are vying for, so I think it's important. And it will have a huge impact economically, and on tourism.”
