Pecco Bagnaia: Ducati was the key to success
Thursday, 19 August 2021
The Italian rider has had a breakout year.
The official Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has released its latest episode, featuring Ducati Lenovo rider Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia.
2021 has proven to be a breakout year for Bagnaia. So far, the Italian rider has claimed four podiums and currently sits second in the MotoGP™ World Championship.
While he has enjoyed recent success, Bagnaia admits his MotoGP™ career hasn’t been smooth sailing – admitting he faced a steep learning curve when he moved from Moto2™ to the premier class.
“When we start the first race everything was very very difficult. I struggled a lot to learn how to brake … but then working with Ducati and working with my team we did a step in front,” said Bagnaia.
“It’s not easy … when you are ok and when you feel good with your bike you can do always a really great result,” he continued.
Since then, Bagnaia has clearly found his groove with the Ducati Lenovo team. The 24-year-old says his success is in part thanks to his friendship with teammate Jack Miller.
“It’s really great to have a really fast rider with you in the same team because they push you more and you have more motivation. I am happy to have Jack as a teammate … we are doing a great job.”
The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
