PICAL announced as the Animoca Brands Australian MotoGP™ 2022 official charity partner

A longstanding local charity that is focused on building a strong, safe and vibrant Phillip Island community.

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation has announced the Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre (PICAL) as the Official Charity Partner for the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022.

Based in Cowes, PICAL is a longstanding local charity, that is focused on building a strong, safe and vibrant Phillip Island community.

PICAL provides a wide range of vital community services and support programs, such as the Phil Dixon Emergency Food Relief program, a community garden, Centrelink service, along with training and education. It also supports vital community engagement and social-enterprise groups, such as Women Connect and ‘Boomerang Bags’.

This partnership will see PICAL further increase awareness of its community programs and raise crucial donations at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit across the three days of the event.

PICAL will also receive a range of donations following the event, such as food for its Emergency Food Relief Pantry and coffee grounds to provide fertilizer for its community garden.

The Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022 will return to Phillip Island from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 October. Come Sunday’s feature race, more than 1,800 days will have passed since the last Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in 2019.

In 2022, there’s plenty to be excited about with Aussies Jack Miller and Remy Gardener set to compete on the MotoGP™ grid and Australia will witness the local debut of compatriot Joel Kelso in Moto3™. On top of that, the national Superbike class will return alongside the Oceania Junior Championship – which will mark its first inclusion at the event.

PICAL Chair, Jeff Floyd has expressed his excitement with the partnership: “To be chosen by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to be the Official Charity Partner for the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022 is incredibly exciting for PICAL," he said.
