Gardner faces an uncertain MotoGP™ future

Monday, 22 August 2022

The Aussie’s ride is under threat.

Remy Gardner’s future in MotoGP™ looks up in the air, with the Aussie admitting there doesn’t seem to be any options for him to remain in the premier class.

Only a week ago, Gardner was heavily rumoured to be retained by Tech3 KTM (which is becoming GASGAS) for next season, but they now appear to want to field a completely new lineup for 2023.

“No, it's not [looking great for next year],” Gardner said after Sunday’s Red Bull Ring race. “In MotoGP, it doesn't look like there's anything… KTM’s done it again!”

Both Miguel Olivera and Moto2™ rising star Augusto Fernandez have been linked with Gardner’s ride for next season.

The decision to not re-sign Gardner is surprising given he’s only been provided half a season to adapt to the tricky KTM RC16 and he’s largely outperformed his highly rated teammate, Raul Fernandez.

Should Gardner not find another spot in MotoGP™, it’s highly likely he could seek new pastures in the World Superbike paddock.

We recently had the Aussie on our In the Fast Lane podcast a few weeks ago, feel free to listen to that episode below.
