Pol Espargaro: I want to see what Marc Marquez does differently

Thursday, 22 April 2021

The Spaniard is eager to learn from his teammate.

The official Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has released a new MotoGP episode, with Repsol Honda rider Pol Espargaro.

Espargaro joins In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Chris Vermeulen to discuss his early days at one of the most famous teams in MotoGP™, the challenge of having Marc Marquez as a teammate, why modern-day MotoGP™ is so competitive and how his four-year stint at KTM was so important for his career.

When discussing his new teammate, Espargaro says he is very excited to learn what makes Marquez the greatest.

“It’s super exciting, this was one of the whys to come here to Repsol Honda. It was important to be in this team because of the bike, the history of the team, but also because I wanted to be beside this guy,” Espargaro said.

“Marc is for sure the greatest of modern times here in MotoGP, I wanted to see what this guy was doing different to the others.”

Espargaro shares his love for the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and how much he and many others from the paddock missed visiting Australia in 2020.

“For a lot of us, it was a shame not to go to Phillip Island. It’s a place where I can say all the riders love this place… It’s a place we all enjoy so much because it’s something different,” he continued.

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
