Australian riders Jack Miller, Senna Agius, Joel Kelso, and Jacob Roulstone prepare for Saturday's Qualifying sessions at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025.
Jack Miller will be carrying a lot of local hopes with him when he takes to the track in Qualifying on Saturday for the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025.
In his first appearance at home on a Yamaha, the Pramac rider just missed out on making it into the top 10 fastest in Friday afternoon’s Practice and will face the other 13 riders in first Qualifying session, from which two riders will advance to join the 10 fastest in the second Q session.
Miller looked very strong around the sweeps and swoops of the classic Victoria circuit, lapping just 0.16s away from making the top 10. He was also just 0.4s slower than Fabio Quartararo, the former world Champion one of two Yamaha riders to make the top 10, just ahead of his teammate Alex Rins.
While many fans will be waiting for Miller to take centre stage, there will be two Australian racers to watch in Moto2. Senna Agius starred in Practice, trading best times of the day – and lap records – with Brazilian Diogo Moreira. In the end the gap between the two was 0.008s, putting Agius in a strong position to secure a front-row start on his Triumph-powered Kalex.
Harrison Voight did a good job on his return to Moto2 competition. Fresh off a fourth place finish at Misano in the European Moto2 championship, the Aussie is filling in for Spaniard Unai Orradre, who was injured in a fall in Indonesia two weeks ago. On the MSi entry, the Queenslander ended the Practice sessions in 27th place.
Both of the Aussie Moto3 racers made the top 14 riders to be seeded into Q2 on Saturday. Joel Kelso ran as high as second on the LevelUp MTA KTM early in the afternoon session, but dropped back to fifth when he was unable to find a tow onto the Gardner Straight in the final part of his best lap.
On the Red Bull Tech 3 KTM Jacob Roulstone looked to be well in contention for a top six placing before his machine ran out of drive on the pit straight, leaving him to push the bike up the pit lane. While he missed out on the final laps of the session, there was no damage done and the Jamberoo, New South Wales rider goes straight into Saturday Qualifying 2, safely in 11th place.
