Miller buoyant about Ducati’s pace in Austria

Monday, 22 August 2022

The Australian is pleased with the speed of the bike.

Jack Miller is satisfied with his race in Austria, notching up his third podium in the last four races and making the most of the pace in the Ducati.

Miller’s consistency has also seen him rise up the championship table, where he finds himself in fifth place.

Describing the race as “tense”, the Australian remained in the top three for all but a few seconds when Jorge Martin made a move up the inside.

In the early stages of the race, Miller was on the attack making an early place on Enea Bastianini before making moves on his teammate, Pecco Bagnaia.

Positions remained status quo for 20 laps before the Aussie was challenged by Martin and championship leader Fabio Quartararo.

“Fabio got me at the chicane with about four laps left and made me look a bit silly, and I was fighting like crazy to keep the podium, which wasn't easy because I'd pretty much run out of everything at that stage,” Miller said.

News that broke early in the weekend was the decision for MotoGP™ to have Sprint Races on Saturdays started next season.

Miller gave his thoughts: “A sprint race would throw an extra element in, you'd have half-points to chase, you'd want to risk more as a rider and not worry about tyres or fuel… I actually don't mind it at all. I'm sure you fans want to see it, so let's give it a crack,”

MotoGP™ has a week off before returning for the San Marino Grand Prix on September 4.
