The Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2025 kicks off at Phillip Island on Friday, featuring a fierce battle between stars like Fermin Aldeguer and Marco Bezzecchi.
The waiting is almost over as the men and motorcycles will take to the hallowed Phillip Island tarmac on Friday at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix™ 2025.
The MotoGP™ race looks like one of the most even of recent times. With Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin in Spain recovering from their respective injuries, the way looks to be clear for a fight between up-and-coming star Fermin Aldeguer, straight off his maiden MotoGP™ victory and Marco Bezzecchi who, in Martin’s absence, has thrived in the role of leading the Aprilia GP program. Bezzecchi will have a double Long Lap Penalty to overcome after an incident in the last GP in Indonesia but, will that be enough to stop him?
But there is always a field of riders looking for the win at The Island, and Jack Miller will be on the hunt for a good result on his Pramac Yamaha – the final shout of the straight-four engined M1 before Yamaha brings its V4 motor to the grid for 2026. In that vein Fabio Quartararo cannot be far away from the leaders, and who could discount former Island winner Alex Rins, who looks to be back in form?
Or… could we see another back flip? Honda’s season has been getting better by the race and 2023 winner Johann Zarco is not a rider to be cast aside on the wide open track.
Much will be revealed when the 300-horsepower bikes take to the track for the opening Practice session at 10:45am, and then the second at 3:00pm.
In Moto2 there will be a lot on the line with the bikes take to the track for the riders’ first session at 9:50am. Most of the local fans will be looking to Senna Agius to put his Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact Kalex among the front runners, with Agius’s teammate Manuel Gonzales and Diogo Moreira having a world title to decide – with veteran Aron Canet likely to be not far away. The second Moto2 session is due to start at 2:05pm.
The rising stars of Moto3 take to the track for the opening Practice session, to start at 9:00am. This will be the first chance for the teams to tune in to the sweeping Grand Prix circuit, with Joel Kelso and Jacob Roulstone looking to set a marker on home soil. The class’s afternoon session is due to start at 1:15pm.
On the local scene the Superbike Masters will be in action at 12:15pm and 4:20pm for their two sessions, the legendary track hosting some of the legendary motorcycles from the golden era of racing in the 1980s and 1990s. Even some of the riders from that era will be on their old racers!
There will also be a host of activities to enjoy off the track on what is sure to be a huge day of action.
