At 26, ‘Bez’ decided the time was right to move away from ‘home’ as a VR46 Academy-raised rider to head to Aprilia after Maverick Vinales jumped to KTM, and an unexpected chance to impress came early when new teammate Jorge Martin missed almost all of the 2025 pre-season with injury, Bezzecchi drawing rave reviews for his extra work in the world champion’s absence.
With the battle for second-best in 2025 looking like a straight fight between Aprilia and KTM, Bezzecchi has a strong chance to prove 2023, when he took three superb wins, is the rule rather than the exception of last year’s 12th-place finish.
