Which is good … right? Partially, yes; Binder, whose association with the Austrian brand goes back a decade, is always there or thereabouts, and someone you can bet your house on if conditions are sketchy. But it’s been three seasons since the second of his premier-class wins, and the arrival of Pedro Acosta as his teammate ups the ante.
Acosta looks to have world championships – plural – in his future after a stunning rookie campaign, yet Binder beat him in the standings last season to be the best non-Ducati rider for a second straight year. Does the Spaniard’s arrival unlock a new level? Do fewer Ducatis mean more opportunity to fight for bigger prizes? It’ll be fascinating to find out.
