Brad Binder joined the MotoGP™ class in 2020 as a factory KTM rider, replacing Johann Zarco after the Frenchman abandoned his ride midway through the 2019 season.

Binder finished the 2019 Moto2™ championship in second place, having won the Moto3™ title three years earlier. Prior to joining the Grand Prix paddock, he spent three seasons in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, with a best finish of fifth overall.

In 2016, at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez, Binder became the first South African to win a motorcycle Grand Prix since Jon Ekerold won the 350cc class at the 1981 Italian Grand Prix.

Binder’s younger brother Darryn is also a motorcycle racer.
