MotoGP™: Viñales sets the pace in the final practice

Saturday, 15 October 2022

Maverick Viñales has indicated that he will be a man to be reckoned with in Qualifying by topping the times in the fourth and final Practice session for the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022.

Viñales and his Aprilia RS-GP were the only pairing to dip under 1m29s, setting a lap of 1m28.976s around the 4.442km Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit.

The Ducati trio of Johann Zarco, Pecco Bagnaia and Marco Bezzecchi were right on the pace in second, third and places ahead of Suzuki's Joan Mir, the former world champion finding his form in his first Grand Prix back after injury.

Fabio Quartararo was sixth fastest on his Yamaha, the title points leader visibly disturbed by having riders follow him during the session.

It's your last chance to secure Grandstand tickets to Race Day at the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2022.

Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Ducati), Jack Miller (Ducati Corse) and Aleix Esspargaro (Aprilia) followed all riders on the circuit for the first time since Turn 4 was renamed 'Miller Corner' earlier in the day.

Remy Gardner was in 21st position on his KTM.

The first Qualifying session, in which Zarco will be looking to advance through the second session as one of the two fastest riders, is set to begin and 2:10 pm.
