Jacob Roulstone has done the hard yards – moving to Europe just before the covid pandemic in 2020 saw him and mum Leah stuck in a Spanish hotel for 105 straight days right after they arrived – so a world championship debut at age 19 is just reward. On the strength of what he’s done in Europe since ditching quarantine, it’s well deserved.

Wins in the hyper-competitive FIM CEV European Talent Cup (2021) and a top-seven showing in the cut-throat FIM Junior GP World Championship (2023) boosted Roulstone’s reputation, but it was his fifth-place finish in the Red Bull Rookies Cup – held on the Grand Prix undercard in Europe – that piqued Herve Poncharal’s interest.
When the long-time paddock stalwart calls, you answer – and the result is a plum ride alongside 2023 race-winner Dani Holgado at Poncharal’s Red Bull-backed Tech3 team this year. As world championship starting points go, it’s a big opportunity.
